Winnetka Fire Rebuild & Reconstruction
Winnetka fire rebuilds under a standing seam steel roof laid as a Class A assembly, with walls and windows hardened to match, from Fernhill Builders.
A standing seam steel roof is a strong candidate for a Winnetka rebuild. Steel cannot burn, its long panels leave few joints for an ember to work under, and a factory finish keeps its color through hard inland sun and gusty dry air. Over the right rated underlayment it forms a Class A assembly, and the ridge and eave closures are sealed so nothing can nest or smolder beneath the panels.
Roof framing under a new covering
A metal roof is light, which helps when the rafters below took heat. The engineer checks each rafter and the ridge board for char and sag, and any that fail are sistered or replaced before new sheathing goes on. Sheathing is nailed on a tighter pattern near the edges, where wind pulls hardest. Valleys and the joint where the roof meets a wall get metal flashing under the panels, so a wind-blown ember has no gap to settle into and no seam to lift.
Walls and openings to match
A hardened roof protects little if the walls and windows under it stay weak. The rebuilt walls can take cement plaster or fiber cement siding, and each window takes insulated glass whose outer pane is tempered. Eaves get closed in with noncombustible soffit panels, and attic vents are listed to resist embers. On a mapped parcel these are required. On an unmapped Winnetka lot each is an upgrade with its own price, so the roof and walls can be chosen as a set.

Fire Rebuild & Reconstruction in Winnetka: common questions
Char depth and the slab decide it. When the engineer clears most of the framing and the foundation holds up, we repair and reroof the house. If char runs through the bearing walls or the slab failed, the lot is cleared for a new house. Both options carry the same roof and wall specification, so the comparison stays even.
Send it ahead of the walk. We check the roofing line against the covering and underlayment the rebuild needs, and every other line against measured areas. Short quantities, a missing code item or a covering priced below what the permit requires all get marked, and the marked pages go to your insurance adjuster.
Roofing is one of the clearest parts. A mapped parcel needs a Class A roof assembly, with gaps at the ridge and eaves closed against embers, plus listed vents, tempered glass and siding rated against ignition. LADBS checks the mapping for your address at plan review. An unmapped Winnetka lot builds to the standard residential code.
