Windows & Doors in Camarillo
Measuring is step one, ordering is step two and demolition comes much later. See how Fernhill Builders sequences a Camarillo window and door job.
Measuring is step one at a Camarillo house, ordering is step two, and demolition trails far behind. Custom units are built to the sizes taken on the first visit, so the old window stays in place until its replacement is on site and checked against the order. Only then does the work move to the wall, one opening at a time.
Before any old frame moves
Paper work leads. The parcel is checked against the fire hazard map, the permit path is confirmed with the building department serving the address, and the glass list is fixed. Units are then ordered to the measured sizes and checked at delivery for size, stamp and frame finish. A unit that arrives wrong goes back before it touches the wall. The stucco around each opening is scored and marked for its patch while the old window is still in. Hardware finish is chosen with salt air in mind where a lot is near the water.
Inside the opening
Once the old window is out, the rough opening gets a square and a probe for soft wood. Flashing tape goes on the sill, up the jambs and across the head last, so water sheds over every layer beneath it. The new unit is shimmed, fastened and sealed on the outside. Foam fills the gap inside, trim follows, and the stucco patch is blended in at the end. Then the next opening starts, and each one gets its own sign-off line in the scope.
Windows & Doors in Camarillo: common questions
A mapped parcel is held to ember-resistant glazing: sealed multi-pane units carrying a tempered layer, or an approved alternative. A parcel outside the map is not, though tempered glass still goes beside doors and tubs. The address is looked up first and the glass type written on each line.
Inserts slide inside a frame that is square and solid and leave the stucco alone. Pulling the frame is the answer when rot, failed flashing or a new opening size is involved. A probe of each sill settles it, so one house can get both methods.
Large sliders and any opening that faces open ground, a fence or a neighbor's wall go ahead of those that look onto a patio. Rotted openings jump to the front of that list. Later phases follow once the first set is in, and each phase is quoted on its own.
